SUA received a modern irrigation water pump from Enza Zaden Africa to Strengthens Practical Agricultural Training

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has received a modern irrigation water pump generously donated by Enza Zaden Africa Ltd, based in Arusha. This vital contribution marks a significant step in strengthening practical agricultural training at SUA, particularly at the Model Training Farm under the College of Agriculture.

The donation was officially received by the Principal of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Nyambilila Amour, alongside Dr. Newton Kilasi, Head of the SUA Model Training Farm, staff from the Horticulture Unit, the Transport Officer, SUA media representatives, and a group of enthusiastic students. The event symbolized the growing partnership between SUA and the private sector.

Special thanks go to the SUA Management for facilitating the transportation of the irrigation pump from Arusha to the Horticulture Unit. This gesture highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in agricultural education and innovation.

Enza Zaden is an international vegetable breeding company with a state-of-the-art 16,000 m² solar-powered greenhouse in Arusha. The facility produces high-quality hybrid seeds such as tomato, cucumber, melon, and pepper throughout the year, supporting sustainable agricultural development in the region.

The irrigation pump will be instrumental in supporting various agricultural activities at the SUA Model Training Farm. This advanced equipment can filter water, mix fertilizers, and distribute water efficiently. It will enhance productivity, support hands-on learning for students, and provide valuable training for farmers, aligning with SUA’s mission to promote innovation and practical skills in agriculture.
