BIOGRAPHY
Abdul B. Kudra is a Tanzanian national. He graduated with Ph.D. (Weed science/Agronomy) from the University of Nairobi in 2011; MSc. (Crop Science, 2007) and BSc. (Horticulture, 2005) from the Sokoine University of Agriculture. Dr. Kudra has enhanced his skills by attending seminars and workshops include Training Workshop on Gender, M & E guidelines development, Regional Workshop for Assessment of Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) Curricula in Educational and Agricultural Training Institutions in Africa, The training workshop on Results-Based Research Management, The training workshop on building capacity for Personal Mastery and Social Skills (PMSS), and The training workshop on climate risk assessment for agriculture.

Dr. Kudra started his professional carrier at SUA in July 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Crop Science and Horticulture and rose to Senior Lecturer in December 2016. Dr. Kudra has published 7 articles in peer-reviewed journals and extension materials. Dr. Kudra is currently the Head of the Department of Crop Science and Horticulture. He is RUFORUM’s drylands and climatic change member. He is also member of SUA Pest Management Board and a member of Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM). He is the Vice-chairperson, National Plant Protection Advisory Committee (NPPAC), Ministry of Agriculture, July 2019 – To date. A member, Board of Directors, Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA), Ministry of Agriculture, September 2019 –To date. He is the Co-Principal Investigator (Tanzania) Agroecological Methodology in VEGetable crops (AGROVEG)  (funded by Royal Museum of Central Africa) 2019 -2023. He has been involved in various academic-related initiatives, among them curriculum development and review.

His research interest has been   in agro-ecological agriculture, climate change, crop protection, conservation agriculture and Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) for perennial and horticultural crops.
