Field Technician I (Assistant to Academician)

Khaji Mkata was employed in 2015 as a Field Technician assistant to Academician under the Department of Animal, Aquaculture, and Range Sciences (DAARS). He currently holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) of Sokoine University of Agriculture. Before he joined the Department of Animal, Aquaculture and Range Sciences, Khaji worked as a part-time professional employee at ASAS Dairies Farm Ltd Iringa as a Livestock Field Officer with a number of core professional duties serving both Milk Processing Factory and Dairy farm production units specifically Nduli Farm located at Iringa Airport then later joined the Community of Sokoine University of Agriculture on 2015 as Field Officer before he joined the
university for the awarded Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine.

Research Interests / Areas

Production animal medicine, Veterinary microbiology and parasitology, and Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Community Services and Other Engagements

From August 2014 to September 2015 KHAJI attended a part-time professional opportunity at ASAS DAIRIES FARM LTD IRINGA as a Livestock Field Officer with a number of core professional duties serving both Milk Processing Factory and Dairy farms production units including providing trainings to livestock farmers on several aspects of animal husbandry. Also attended Animal welfare program provided by International Veterinary Outreach (IVO) organization in collaboration with Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) in Kibaigwa- Dodoma (2022) performing several animal rescue and vaccination programs for the risk assessment and awareness to Rabies eradication campaign, then worked with Ifakara Health Institute for the aspect of One Health approach at Maasai Land – Naitolia, (Engusero, ormangwan and Mswakini) in Arusha (June 2023).
