Image previewDr. Rasel Madaha has an opportunity to participate in a transformative week-long retreat, with staff of CARE International, in Dar es Salaam. The retreat was organized by the Scale Up Farmers Field and Business School project team, in collaboration with CARE USA Global dvocacy Lead, David Manyonga. Under the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project, in partnership with the Government of Tanzania and the World Bank, SUA engages with development partners and other actors to develop competency-based curriculum to ensure sustained economic growth in the country. CARE International has played an instrumental role in the ongoing development and review of curriculum at the department.

The CARE International strategic planning session was dedicated to refining the Scale Up Farmers Field and Business School (FFBS), solidifying sub-strategies for key project partners, and capitalizing on recent project milestones. The strategic planning process follows recent project achievements, including the successful integration of Farmers Field and Business School (FFBS) components into Sokoine University of Agriculture undergraduate curriculum. SUA and CARE International have signed an MoU and FFBS Agreement. Under the FFBS scale-up project, CARE International has signed an Agreement with the Department of Agricultural Extension and Community Development of Sokoine University of Agriculture in the review, development, and implementation of existing and new curricula to achieve the scale up of FFBS model.

The team devoted focused sessions to developing sub-strategies tailored to CARE International in Tanzania primary partners; Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania Society of Agricultural Extension Education (TSAEE), and Iringa District Council. This targeted approach ensures context-specific and nuanced engagement with each partner.

CARE International in Tanzania proudly stands among the 30 CARE Country Programs globally engaged in scaling up FFBS, underscoring its commitment to innovative and impactful agricultural practices.
