FIELD PRACTICALS AT MAGADU ANIMAL UNIT

In the past 6 weeks second year students from Animal and Range sciences courses were undertaking their field practical training at the Department of Model Training Farm specifically Magadu Animal Unit.

They took part in various activities which included the Pasture farm management in activities like sowing, weeding , harvesting and processing of different pasture plants. They also took part in Management of various animal routine activities such as deworming, castration, hoof trimming and cleaning.

Apart from Sokoine University of Agriculture students we also had students from institutions under LITA who are persuing Diploma in Animal health who were here for practical training. They mostly took part in activities pertaining animal health including disease diagnosis, treatment, vaccination , prophylaxis and herd health.

The past 6 weeks have been productive to our students as they put into practice everything that was learnt in their theory sessions.
