Dr.Lilian Fanuel Shechambo (Ph.D.) teaches Weed biology, Vegetable production, Organic farming, Principles and practices of horticulture, and Soilless plant culture. Dr. Shechambo’s research focus has been on effects of host availability on fruit flies population using fruit phenology data, organic production of high-value vegetable crops, and also in pest management in organic production systems.
She participated in various projects such as:
- Productivity and Growth in Organic Value – chains (ProGrOV) (Funded by DANIDA, 2010-2018).
- Determining the potential global distribution for Bactrocera invadens using CLIMEX (funded by Citrus Research International, CRI, 2011-2012)
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for fruit flies in Tanzania (funded by Belgian Development Cooperation Agency, DGOS, 2008-2012)
At the Department, she is serving as the Coordinator of Research and Publications.
