Kallunde Sibuga has PhD (Crop Science) -specialization weed science and agronomy and has accumulated 33 years post PhD teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She teaches Weed Management, Organic farming and Legislations on Plants, Food and Agricultural Inputs at undergraduate level and Weed Science, Research methods and Pesticides (Herbicides) to postgraduate students. Professor Sibuga has a long history of active involvement in research, outreach and consultancy. She has been the Leader of 11 Research projects (6 with international collaborators) and participated as a member in 5 others. Her current research focus is on weed management using agro-ecological/organic practices in vegetable and cereal crops. She has published 55 articles in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings; contributed to six chapters in books and co-authored one book.
Prof Sibuga is a member of the governing Boards of Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCA); Seed Co (Tanzania) and Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM). She is also the Chairperson of the National Plant Protection Advisory Committee (NPPAC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and a member of the Sugarcane Research Steering Commiittee under the sugar industry in Tanzania.
