Tanlapia is an aquaculture company based in the Bagamoyo district at the Coastal region of Tanzania. Tanlapia is a private sector involved in tilapia fish production using the In-Pond Raceways System for tilapia production (IPRS), which simulates a natural river environment, producing healthy and nutritious fish. The company produces more than 30 tons a month from 500 hectares of rich, green plains at the mouth of the Ruvu River.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6819 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tantech-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1732\" height=\"1154\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tantech-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tantech.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1732px) 100vw, 1732px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Currently, aquaculture is the fastest growing agri-industry field in the world due to the increased fish demands fueled by ever increasing human populations. Aquaculture is a vital component of the global food system that is gaining increasing attention in its role in addressing food insecurity and improving socio-economic standards in developing countries including Tanzania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The aquaculture Team from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Department of Animal, Aquaculture, and Range Sciences<\/a> visited the company to appreciate its operations and collect views from the company as an important stakeholder in the fish industry in Tanzania. At present the Department of Animal, Aquaculture, and Range Sciences is conducting curriculum review exercises for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6849 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tanlapiaxx-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1730\" height=\"1297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tanlapiaxx-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.coa.sua.ac.tz\/animal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Tanlapiaxx.jpg 719w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1730px) 100vw, 1730px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Incorporating the perspectives and input of aquaculture stakeholders in the curriculum review process enhances the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the education program delivered. This collaborative approach benefits student competencies, educators, and the whole chain of the aquaculture industry. The department offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sua.ac.tz\/programme\/bachelor-science-aquaculture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BSc. Aquaculture<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sua.ac.tz\/programme\/msc-aquaculture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSc.
