The\u00a0American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy<\/span>\u00a0in collaboration with\u00a0Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences<\/a>\u00a0welcomes you to Join us for the second year of our\u00a0FREE<\/strong>\u00a0virtual course\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’re an academic faculty member teaching at an accredited university or medical school in sub-Saharan Africa,\u00a0apply<\/a>\u00a0for this eight-part course. ASGCT recently earned a\u00a0Power of Associations Gold Award<\/a>\u00a0from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for the\u00a0first iteration of this course<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

ASGCT Members will present the course material with the aim of instructing attendees to implement gene therapy education into their own curricula.<\/span><\/p>\n

October 12: Use of gene therapy in cancer treatment<\/span><\/p>\n

October 17: Ethical issues, regulatory challenges, and the role of patient advocacy groups and international partnerships in implementing gene therapies<\/span><\/p>\n

October 19: How to Initiate a Clinical Trial<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Postdoc Positions in the Hess Lab at UC Davis<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Hess Lab<\/a>\u00a0at the University of California Davis (UC Davis) is recruiting\u00a0<\/span>two postdoctoral fellows<\/b>\u00a0to conduct research in the area of\u00a0<\/span>Microbial Ecology & Anaerobic Digestion<\/i><\/b>\u00a0(Position 1) and\u00a0<\/span>Microbial Ecology & Bioinformatics<\/i><\/b> (Position 2). The successful candidates will work in the Hess Lab at the UC Davis and will be part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional team that will develop and employ CRISPR genome editing approaches to change the function of complex microbiomes towards low methane-emitting dairy and beef cattle and other anaerobic systems (e.g., digesters).<\/span><\/span>The successful candidate will lead bioinformatic efforts, perform some wet-lab experiments, and work closely with the PI, all members of the Hess Lab, and its collaborators at UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco.<\/span><\/p>\n
