He specializes in fish diseases and management, fish farming, ornamental fish, aquatic biodiversity, and conservation genetics. Currently, he serves as a Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Animal, Aquaculture, and Range Sciences at<a href=\"https:\/\/sua.ac.tz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Sokoine University of Agriculture<\/a> (SUA) in Morogoro, Tanzania, where he is also pursuing his Master\u2019s in Aquaculture, specializing in aquatic diseases and management. Mr. Magoti holds a Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture from SUA and has gained extensive expertise in fish health, ornamental fish breeding, aquaculture, and the conservation of aquatic ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Throughout his academic journey, Mr. Magoti has participated in various innovative exhibitions, including National innovation exhbitions (MAKISATU) and he also participated in Nane Nane and trained over 500 people on fish farming and ornamental fish busness. He was a winner of the Tanzania University Industry Day, organized by SUA, for showcasing innovations that bridge the gap between academia and industry. As the founder of Aquahome Service Organization (AHSO), a startup driving innovation in Tanzania\u2019s aquaculture sector, he has specialized in breeding both local and imported ornamental fish, designing custom aquarium furniture, and fabricating aquariums for homes and businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">As a researcher, Mr. Magoti leads significant projects such as the SaveCichlids Project funded by the Rufford foundation UK, which focuses on conserving endangered Haplochromine Cichlids in Lake Victoria by mitigating disease risks from cage fish farms. He is also involved in the DigiFish Project as a masters student, which aims to identify fish pathogens affecting farmers in the Lake Victoria Basin, and has worked with the Food Land Project to train fish farmers in Kilombero District on best practices in fish farming. Additionally, he was the first runner-up in the Youth Ignite Student Founders Fellowship national pitching event, where he showcased his innovative work in ornamental fish farming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Mr. Magoti has presented his research at major international conferences, including the world aquaculture conference in Tunisia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.was.org\/Meeting\/Program\/PaperDetail\/165398\">https:\/\/www.was.org\/Meeting\/Program\/PaperDetail\/165398<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Third East African Regional Aquaculture Conference (ERAC III) (<a href=\"https:\/\/earac.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/EARAC-III-Final-Abstracts-Booklet-12-AUG-2024.pdf\">https:\/\/earac.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/EARAC-III-Final-Abstracts-Booklet-12-AUG-2024.pdf<\/a>) and the Third Fisheries &amp; Aquaculture Research for a Vibrant Blue Economy (FAR4ViBE) <a href=\"https:\/\/tafiri.go.tz\/conference\/index.php\">https:\/\/tafiri.go.tz\/conference\/index.php<\/a> His presentation on pathogenic bacteria causing infectious diseases in cage-farmed fish in Lake Victoria highlighted his contribution to addressing critical challenges in aquaculture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">With a passion for conserving aquatic biodiversity and empowering fish farmers, Mr. Magoti continues to make significant contributions to the aquaculture industry and the sustainable management of aquatic resources in Tanzania and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Research Projects Undertaking as Principal Investigator (PI)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Conserving Lake Victoria&#8217;s Endangered Haplochromine Cichlids Through Mitigating Disease Risks from Cage Fish Farms (Savecichlids) funded by The Rufford Foundation.
