The Department Receives an award

CODEPATA award 1On 26th March 2021, the Department of Agricultural Extension and Community Development received a certificate of recognition. The certificate was proudly granted to the department in recognition of Corporate membership to the Community Development Professional's Association of Tanzania (CODEPATA).  CODEPATA held its 4th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Community Development Professional Association of Tanzania from 23rd February 2021 to 26th February 2021. The conference brought together over 400 community development professionals from across Tanzania. They work for local governments, agencies of the central government, NGOs, and the private sector.

Dr. Madaha presents a paper at a conference in Dodoma

May 2018 passportFrom 23rd February 2021 to 26th February 2021, Dr. R. Madaha had an opportunity to attend and present a paper at the 4th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Community Development Professional Association of Tanzania (CODEPATA). The conference brought together over 400 community development professionals from across Tanzania. They work for local governments, agencies of the central government, NGOs, and the private sector. 

Dr. Madaha had an opportunity to present a paper titled, "Community Participation and Decentralisation: the Case study of Morogoro district"

Dr. Martin defends his P.h.D

Respikius MartinOn 25th February 2021, after the ups and downs of a Ph.D. program, Respikius Martin, an academician from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Community Development, ultimately completed his mission by successfully defending his doctoral at SUA. The title of his thesis is "Institutions governance and upgrading in non-industrial private forestry value chain in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania  at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. The department takes this opportunity to congratulate him on his achievement.

Dr. Gabriel Nzalayaimisi publishes a book chapter

Gabriel NzalayaimisThe Department would like to congratulate Dr. Nzalayaimisi for publishing a book chapter in Book Title, "Mission und dekoloniale Perspektive." The title of his book chapter is, "In Praise of the African Berliners: some reflections on World War I in the Berlin Mission Society fields up to 139. In brief, the Berlin Mission Society (BMS) started working in Eastern Tanzania in 1887. In 1891it began its work in Sourthen Tanzania...The BMS built churches and houses for the mission's expatriate staff to inhabit. They built primary schools, middle schools, and teacher training colleges. For details, look for the book chaper and read it.  

Zahara H. Mkuki graduates

Her research is titled  Agricultural Extension Officers’ Perceptions On Their Roles: A Case Study Of Agricultural Extension Officers’ In  Simiyu Region.

The Department Welcomes First Year Undergraduate Students

COMM DVL reducedOn 13th December 2020, ongoing undergraduate students organized a freshers' party to welcome first years students and to kick start the academic year 2020/2021.

The ongoing students have developed a custom of welcoming first-year every year. The event was characterized by music, food, and drinks. Talented students enrolled in the first and second years had an opportunity to show their talents through performing live music.

Over 240 students have been enrolled in the Bachelor of Community Development (BCD) offered at SUA where as over 260 students have been enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Agricultural Extension.
